J.wong CEO of MEIZU wants to hit the conscience for its future smartphone, the Meizu M9 and M9II. This is why the brand has just announced a new logo in ancient Chinese character. Not very original as the idea comes from Lenovo and its Lephone and is much less beautifully. In addition it serves as an excuse to announce a further delay, since it will now wait until December 2010 in order to admire a prototype in the Meizu store instead of early November. It also presents an initial picture of the future M9II 4.0 inch screen with 1024x640px (just a bigger Meizu M9 ) and announces an availability for mid-2011.

Some poeple from the Chinese forum m9meizu have already picked up the Meizu M9 in their hand and give their first impression. In summary, we learn that the wireless module and Bluetooth have been separated to increase the quality of reception. Similarly, responsiveness and 3D power is excellent, comparable to the Samsung Galaxy. Internet browsing is faster than the iPhone 4 and the camera mode is as fast. But the picture quality is far superior on the iPhone 4.
Unlike the iPhone 4 there is no network signal reception problems. There is no camera in the front because they had to make room for the GPS module. The back shell is smooth and not grainy for much comfort. Jack Wong has just delay the implementation of prototype models in the shops to get rid of the last Bugs and give a flawless device to customer. You will now have to wait for November to take it in hand at Meizu’s official shop.
The Meizu M9 is being validated at the “China Academy of Telecommunication Research” before being allowed to go on sale in China. This procedure takes about two months, which corresponds to late December.
Update : The first batch of Meizu M9 store prototype model already arrived in store, Jack Wong has given more details on availability and it will be on late December (Christmas time). Finally Jack Wong announced the cessation of production of the Meizu M8 due to a complaint from Apple for copyright infringement on the design. New photos has been added to the gallery.
Update : Meizu M9, only available in december pre-order from october 10th. Meizu start to stock up Retina Screen, the back body shell is removable and can be changed.
The arrival of the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy (Sphone) in China has thoroughly changed the plans of Jack Wong, Meizu’s CEO. Indeed some time after announcing his new Meizu M9, many fans have criticized the brand because it uses the same screen as the old M8. Having no real choice, Jack Wong has decided to adopt the same retina screen as the iphone 4 (960×680) which also forced him to postpone the launch date normally scheduled for October. It will be possible to take a look at the Meizu M9 in the Meizu shops from October 10, but it will only be available in December if you pre-order it. To do so, it will require you to make a deposit of 200 yuans (17euros). Via pconline
The Meizu M9 is one of the most anticipated smartphone of the year in China, perhaps even more than its future competitor the iPhone 4G. We know a little more today, after Jack Wong, Meizu’s CEO has confirmed that the M9 will adopt Android 2.1, now we know that it will have an HDMI 1.3 output. With this latest news, you can almost certify that the M9 will be able to play HD video. In fact, the embedded Samsung C110 processor, in addition to 3D handling, is able to decode Full HD video.
There is also an image which just appeared on a Chinese forum, claiming to be the perfect illustration of the future smartphone. According to the image, the camera would shrink in the hull, and flash would be located behind the glass. The hull is covered with a layer of Teflon providing a pleasant touch and a good grip. At the front, there are two additional touch keys. In my opinion if the true one looks like this, you could expect a great success.
