The Chinese manufacturer DAWA based in Shenzhen is a specialist in mobile internet devices. So he naturally enters into the new wave of Tablet PC with its DAWA D7. Seeing the growing popularity of the operating system from Google, he decided to decline its tablet with an Android version.
This tablet is running with the latest 2.1 version of Android OS. You’ll have access to thousands of Android Market applications, also 3D desktop and a slightly redesigned interface. The specification does not change much from the Windows CE version. The ARM processor is from Telechips TC8902 with less power, 600Mhz instead of 720Mhz. Therefore it no longer supports 1080p HD video but only 720p. The processor is supported by 256MB of DDR2 RAM, and 2GB of NAND flash that can be extended to 32GB trough TF Card slot. It has a GPS, WiFi and 3G (optional) module to access to internet.
The D7 can read all kinds of audio and video files that can be displayed on a TV via HDMI. The touch screen is multi-touch, it measures 7-inch for a definition of 800 × 480. It can display ebook, read MS Office files, view streaming and P2P videos and play Flash games… etc. It offers two USB plugs, one USB 2.0 OTG, the other USB 1.1 HOST. Its 1500mAh battery allows a limited range of only 3 hours when surfing on the Internet and 4 hours when playing video.
The Dawa D7 is already available in China with Windows CE 6.0 and Android 2.1 for a price below $200.
