A small manufacturer, Saycool, based in Shenzhen (it is often the case) has unveiled two new Tablet PCs, the M5A and the M7. These two tablets pc adopt a processor which is still little present on the tablet market, respectively, the Intel Atom Z515 1.2GHz and Z530 Atom processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The main advantage of the Z range of Intel compared to the N range is the power consumption. In fact, the Z range is much less demanding than the N range, allowing a better autonomy, a big plus for a device meant to be “mobile”. A big drawback, the price.
On the side of the Saycool M5A, it has a 16GB SSD, 1GB of RAM and a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. The battery has a capacity of 1700mAh and the MID weighs 350g in total. From the Saycool M7 side, it also has a 16GB SSD, 2GB of RAM and a 7-inch screen. The screen displays a resolution of 1024×600, which is rather rare for this size screen. The M7 weighs 550g and has a 2700mAh battery.
Both use a capacitive touch screen and the operating system Windows, XP for the Saycool M5A and 7 for the Saycool M7. The negative aspects of these tablets would be the design of M5A (somewhat outdated) and the price. Indeed, it will cost about 550 dollars for the M5A and M7 640 dollars, high prices are due to their Intel processor. Not sure that people is ready to buy Chinese tablets pc at such prices.
